“Survey of the Eastern Plains” is a photographic journey into the Northeastern lands of Colorado documenting mankind’s attempt to homestead on it. Once a majestic landscape of prairie grass and cottonwood trees this land has seen a transition under human hands. Settled and farmed now many sites are abandoned and in various states of decay. Each homestead site seems to tell a story of great hope, perseverance and broken dreams. Many people have come and very few remain. This landscape with its frozen winter, shade less summer, relentless wind and ongoing drought seems to be slowly taking back its land.
